Ever looked up at the sky and have an epiphany?

All of a sudden it makes total sense why you feel like retreating and reflecting.

Women have long had a deep connection to the moon, but somehow in this modern world we sometimes forget to seek its guidance and mystic properties.

As the moon needs to withdraw and renew each month, so do we. We often experience different emotional states the same way the moon goes through different phases around the Earth.

The more in tune we are with these phases and how they affect us, the better we can harness the different energies, rather than wasting energy fighting against them.

Imagine what this could mean for your business, but also for your energy and wellbeing?

Let’s take a look at the 8 phases of the moon to discover how they affect your business and how you can harness its power to positively ignite your success.

1. New Moon (New Beginning)

A new moon is when the sun and the moon are on the same side of the Earth. It’s when the sun is not facing the moon, and it looks like the dark side of the moon when seen from Earth.
Historically during the new moon women took time away from others to experience their menstrual cycle. It was a time of retreat, a time to regain strength to a new beginning.

The new moon phase is the perfect time in your business for an intense reboot. It’s a perfect time to slow down to top up your energy, declutter your unwanted thoughts and take some time for you.

Unplug, give yourself alone time and don’t feel bad for canceling plans or blocking out space in your calendar. Turning off is the best way to make the most of a new moon. If you must do some client work make sure your load is lighter and you plan in more time for you.

2. Waxing Crescent (Setting Intentions)

The sun starts moving closer to the new moon, starting to become illuminated again. A crescent appears, less than half illuminated, until it grows into a first quarter moon.

The waxing moon represents intention, hopes, and wishes. Now that you’ve recharged under the new moon, it’s time to set your intentions for the next moon phases.

The waxing moon is the perfect time to set intentions for your next project so that you’re building strong foundations. You’ll feel your energy levels rise, and might find it easier to stay focused on a creative project or task.

3. First Quarter Moon (Taking Action)

The moon reaches the first quarter a week after the new moon and is one-quarter of the way through its monthly cycle of phases.

This is a time where you might start to feel some resistance as it’s time to take action on your intentions. Moving from a rest phase to a ‘doing’ phase is a change that can throw some curveballs. If you’ve set your intentions in a new moon period it’s now time to act on those intentions but be flexible with your steps. Keep your intentions in mind and take action to move in the direction of your intention but don’t be attached to the process too much.

The best way to start acting on your intentions is to keep a to-do list and a journal. Write yourself a daily to-do list and cross things off as you complete them.

4. Waxing Gibbous (Refining & Evaluating)

We’re now one phase away from becoming a full moon. A large portion of a waxing moon is illuminated.
As you’re moving further into the moon phases you’ll want to focus on refining and editing your intentions and the process of fulfilling them.

Things don’t always work out the way we planned them to, and this phase of the moon will help you realise what you need to reevaluate, give up, or change direction on.

Schedule some time into your calendar to re-evaluate and change direction if you need to. This way you’re prepared for possible changes.

5. Full Moon (Harvesting)

A full moon occurs when the sun and the moon are on opposite sides of the Earth. It’s when the light completely illuminates it, so it looks completely full when seen from Earth.

Historically, farmers used to harvest their crops during a full moon because of the extra light. It’s a time of harvesting what you’ve planted with the new moon. Your intention is coming to fruition (or not) and you often feel more emotional and a bit tense.

Full moon is a good time to plan social activities, as well as making sales in your business. Open up your calendar for sales calls or plan the final stage of your launch during a full moon. You’ll feel that your creativity and intuition are strong and your energy is abundant.

6. Waning Gibbous (Gratitude)

The moon starts becoming less illuminated again, waning toward the last quarter moon.

You’ll be feeling and seeing the benefits of your work for the last two weeks. It’s generally a time for gratitude and sharing. You’ll be feeling full of love and want to give back to people close to you.

It’s a great time in your business to share your free content and go live on video on your social networks. Your vibe and enthusiasm are high which will benefit you in connecting with your audience.

7. Last Quarter (Releasing)

The last quarter moon is the reverse process of the first quarter, returning to another new moon. After a full moon, the moon wanes into another gibbous moon, and then into the last quarter.

The focus here is on releasing and letting go. Anything that no longer serves you can be released and let go. Sometimes this goes hand in hand with forgiveness. Any hurt, anger, disappointments you’ve encountered during the weeks? Let them all go, forgive and release.

Do a big clean out if you like. Clean out your apartment, your closet, your friendships, your hard drive, your emails. Look at anything that’s no longer serving you and get rid of it so that you’re ready for a new moon and new intentions.

8. Waning Crescent (Surrendering)

We’re almost back to a new moon, you’ll see most of it already and only a sliver is still dark.

You may feel empty during this time as you’ve gone through almost a full moon cycle. It’s time to surrender, get some rest and recuperate before the next cycle. Be gentle on yourself and don’t plan too much into your work schedule. Take yourself on walks and leave plenty of space to recuperate.
